The City of Temples: Kathmandu
This summer, I went to Kathmandu, Nepal and it was a very delightful trip. Actually, my maternal grandparents migrated to the place when my mom and her siblings were very young. My grandparents still live there and I went to visit them. My mom's siblings were also coming and I met my cousin sister and my two year old brother for the first time. It was extremely entertaining and enjoyable as my brother's funny actions made me laugh till my tummy hurt badly.
We also went to the famous temple Pashupatinath dedicated to lord Shiva. We went to New Road also which is like a huge area of shops. There is also a magnificent museum as well named Narayanhiti Palace Museum in Kathmandu where I went and enjoyed ,discovering Kathmandu's rich history and the fall of monarchy along with the massacre of the late King and his family. Later we went to Sanga which had the tallest Lord Shiva statue in the world, being 144 foot tall.
I enjoyed my granny's food and affection. We used to get 100 Nepali rupees each day as pocket money which I saved and spent depending on what I wanted. We learned about the importance and value of money. Have you ever heard of a casino? A casino is a place of games where we can win or lose money such as a roulette but that is for adults so I went to a children's section where we enjoyed. Did you know that Nepali citizens were restricted from entering the casino and only foreigners were allowed. After that we were hungry and relished scrumptious cuisine at a delicious pure veg restaurant called Moti Mahal. The next day, We visited to Swaymbhunath which is a scenic Buddhist temple on a cliff. I enjoyed my maternal uncle's(my Mamu) jokes and maternal aunt's(Mausi and Mami) dishes.
I loved this trip and was a little sad to leave Nepal, because I would miss my grandparent's affection, the fun environment with my family, the gardening with my Nanu, some banter with my sister and the scenic beauty of Kathmandu.
